Your journey begins the moment you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). As you step out into the warm Tanzanian air, you can feel the excitement coursing through your veins.

At Siha Discovery, we believe that your adventure starts with a warm welcome. Our experienced team will greet you and escort you to your accommodation in Moshi or Arusha, where you can relax, unwind, and prepare for the ascent ahead.

In the evening, we will conduct a pre-climb briefing. You will have the chance to meet your fellow adventurers, and your guides will outline the upcoming days, ensuring that you’re equipped and ready for the challenge. Enjoy a delicious dinner while soaking in the vibrant culture of Tanzania, and get a good night’s rest before the adventure begins.

Day 2: Moshi to Shira Gate – Begin Your Climb

After a hearty breakfast, we will drive to the Shira Gate, the starting point of your climb. The journey takes you through lush landscapes and charming villages, providing a glimpse of life in Tanzania. The excitement builds as you arrive at the gate, where you’ll complete the necessary park registration.

As you embark on the trail, the Shira Route offers a moderate ascent, making it ideal for acclimatization. You’ll wander through dense forests, where the sounds of chirping birds and rustling leaves accompany you. The diverse flora includes giant heather, wildflowers, and the unique lobelias that thrive at high altitudes.

On this day, we’ll make our way to the Shira Camp, located at an altitude of about 3,840 meters (12,567 feet). The stunning views of the Shira Plateau and the looming silhouette of Kilimanjaro will inspire you. Once we set up camp, you’ll have time to relax, enjoy a hearty dinner, and marvel at the starry sky before settling in for the night.

Day 3: Shira Camp to Lava Tower

Today, we embark on one of the most scenic portions of the climb. After breakfast, we will trek towards Lava Tower, situated at an altitude of 4,600 meters (15,091 feet). This challenging hike will help you acclimatize to the increasing altitude and is vital for ensuring a successful summit attempt.

As we ascend, the landscape transforms dramatically. The barren, rocky terrain contrasts with earlier lush vegetation, and you’ll experience the desolate beauty of the mountain. Along the way, your guides will share fascinating stories about the mountain’s geology, flora, and fauna.

Upon reaching Lava Tower, take a moment to revel in the panoramic views that stretch out before you. The towering rock formations and the sights of the surrounding valleys will remind you of the raw beauty of nature. After a well-deserved lunch, we will descend back to Barranco Camp for acclimatization, where you can recharge your energy and enjoy another delicious dinner prepared by our expert chefs.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Today, we tackle the famous Barranco Wall! This steep ascent is a thrilling experience that will test your resolve and determination. As you climb, feel the adrenaline rush and the camaraderie of your fellow teammates. The views from the top are truly rewarding, showcasing the beauty of the valleys below and the peak above.

After conquering the wall, we will navigate through the lush Karanga Valley. This section of the hike is serene and beautiful, surrounded by breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro’s glaciers. Upon reaching Karanga Camp, situated at an altitude of 4,000 meters (13,123 feet), you’ll have ample time to relax and enjoy a well-earned meal.

Tonight, gather around the campfire with your fellow climbers, share your stories, and bond over the day’s accomplishments. This is what adventure is all about—building connections and memories that last a lifetime.

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

After breakfast, we will embark on the final leg of our trek to Barafu Camp, located at an altitude of 4,680 meters (15,354 feet). This is the base camp for our summit attempt, and the feeling of anticipation is palpable among climbers.

The trail takes you through alpine desert, where the landscape becomes more rugged and stark. Along the way, take a moment to appreciate the unique ecosystems and the hardy plants that thrive in this environment.

Upon reaching Barafu Camp, you will have the rest of the day to rest and prepare for the final ascent. Hydration and nutrition are key at this stage, and our team will ensure you are well-fed and ready for what lies ahead. As night falls, gather your gear and mentally prepare for the early start that awaits you.

Day 6: Summit Day – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Mweka Camp

The day you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived! At around midnight, we will wake you for a light breakfast before beginning our ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet). The climb is challenging, with steep slopes and a rugged terrain, but the exhilaration of reaching the summit will drive you onward.

As you ascend, the night sky is illuminated by a blanket of stars, guiding your way to the peak. The air becomes thinner, the temperatures drop, and the sense of accomplishment grows stronger with each step. Our experienced guides will be right beside you, offering support and motivation as you approach the summit.

Upon reaching Uhuru Peak, a wave of emotions will wash over you. Take a moment to soak in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes and the satisfaction of standing atop Africa. Capture this unforgettable moment with photographs and celebrate your achievement with your fellow climbers.
