6-DAY BIG FIVE LUXURY SAFARI IN TANZANIA

DAY 1: ARRIVAL AND TRANSFER TO ARUSHA TOWN

Welcome to Tanzania!
Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be warmly greeted by a friendly and professional representative from Siha Discovery Tours and Safari. After a warm welcome, you will be transferred in a comfortable vehicle to your accommodation in the vibrant town of Arusha, the gateway to northern Tanzania’s safari circuit.

Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to settle in, unwind, and enjoy a moment of rest after your journey. Take this time to relax, refresh yourself, and mentally prepare for the exciting adventure that awaits you over the coming days.

DAY 2: ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Your Siha Discovery Tours & Safari guide will collect you from your accommodation after breakfast. This morning, you will drive to Tarangire National Park. The transit drive is approximately two and a half hours on good tarmac roads. The park is named after the TarangireRiver, which runs through it.

This ‘river of warthogs’ is the region’s only water source for wildlife during the dry season. The park is well known for its elephant families, which can often be seen congregating by the river. You may also see giraffes, bushbuck, and hartebeest. A range of predators, including lions and leopards, closely follows these animals. More bird species breed in Tarangire than anywhere else on the planet!

The huge and ancient baobab trees can be seen here—some are said to have lived for more than a thousand years. Lunch will be at a picnic site inside the park.

After your game drive, you will transit to your luxury accommodation in Karatu.

DAY 3: KARATU TO SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, you will drive up into the cooler regions of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. There will be a chance to stop and see the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. You will then transit through Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the Serengeti, entering the south of the park.

The Serengeti National Park is truly spectacular! It is famous for its vast open grasslands, allowing excellent wildlife sightings. While it boasts abundant wildlife, it is perhaps best known for its incredible annual migration. Depending on the time of year you come, you will witness one of the seven wonders of the natural world when vast numbers of wildebeest, zebra, and antelope move through the area in search of water and fresh grass.

Later you will drive to your luxury accommodation for dinner and overnight

DAY 4: FULL DAY GAME DRIVE IN SEENGETI NATIONAL PARK

On your second day in the Serengeti National Park, you will embark on a full-day game drive, giving you ample time to explore the park’s diverse and breathtaking landscapes. This immersive experience allows for the chance to encounter a wide range of wildlife, including lions, elephants, giraffes, leopards, and, if you’re lucky, the elusive cheetah.

As you traverse the vast savannahs, acacia-dotted plains, and riverbanks, your professional guide will help you track animals and share fascinating insights about the Serengeti’s ecosystem and wildlife behavior.

Midday, you will pause for a relaxing lunch at a designated picnic site within the park, where you can enjoy your meal surrounded by nature while taking in the magnificent views.

After lunch, your adventure continues with more game viewing in the afternoon, as many animals become active again during the cooler hours. Eventually, as the sun begins to set, you will make your way back to the camp for dinner and overnight.

DAY 5: GAME DRIVE NGORONGORO CRATER

After breakfast, you will wind your way toward Ngorongoro Crater, enjoying more wonderful sights on the way! After an entire afternoon inside the crater, you will drive to your accommodation in Karatu.

Steep volcanic walls conceal Ngorongoro Crater, a pristine wilderness with sweeping savannah, acacia woodland pockets, glistening lakes, and swamps. The crater was created when a large volcano exploded and collapsed in on itself two to three million years ago. The drive down into the crater is an adventure in itself, and when you reach the crater floor, you will quickly find yourself amongst large numbers of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and more than 500 bird species. The crater provides you with the best chance of seeing the endangered black rhino, which can sometimes be spotted in the open grasslands.

DAY 6: GAME DRIVE LAKE MANYARA AND DEPARTURE

This morning, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park—your final destination on this epic safari! Lake Manyara National Park is a small but diverse park 120km west of Arusha. Everything you will see here is on a different scale. It is both compact (one of the narrowest parks in Africa) and epic (the Great Rift Escarpment towers over Lake Manyara’s western boundary).

The park’s namesake is a shallow salt lake. It covers a large area of the park, flooding and drying with the seasons, and is home to thousands of wading birds (including flamingos and over 500 other bird species). You may see baboons and elephants in the park’s thick evergreen forest and look out for the tree-climbing lions that have become famous throughout Africa.

You will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park. After your game drive, we will drop you off at a place you choose, e.g., Arusha, Kilimanjaro International Airport, or Arusha Airport. We hope you have enjoyed your adventure with Siha Discovery Tours & Safaris!
